The Issue

The Trust needed to increase the mobility of clinicians without putting sensitive patient data at risk; to allow users reliable connectivity, easy access to data and a simple way to take notes and update patient records in real time.

They also needed to offer one-to-one counselling to more patients, using limited resources, by minimising travel wherever possible.

They needed to deploy, secure and manage a large number of devices centrally, with limited resource.

The Solution

Three thousand clinicians have been issued with Apple iPads, giving easy access to email and calendars over wi-fi or cellular networks, from almost anywhere. By using Skype or FaceTime, they can offer long distance counselling sessions to patients in need of mental health support, at limited cost.

Advised by Qolcom, the trust chose EMM platform MobileIron to manage all mobile devices, maintaining security and ensuring currency of configuration. They added MobileIron Web@Work, a browser that enables immediate, secure access to internal websites and web applications. Users can also download a variety of tailored apps from the Trust’s online app store, to help them work more efficiently.
